For most visiting this page, you will either own or have heard of the previous three Collector's Edition guides that accompanied the earlier games in the series. That being the case or not, all of you should rest assured that once again, this product is THE essential companion to the game - perhaps more so than ever before...Without beating around the bush, Assassin's Creed 3 was released amid criticism and fan disappointment. Love it or hate it though, many of the game's original issues have since been patched at the time of me writing this, but despite this, the guide nonetheless provides unprecedented guidance to an otherwise muddled experience.
It seems as though, with Assassin's Creed 3, any good idea on the table found its way into the game, for better or worse; resulting in an incredibly overwhelming ammount of side missions and diversions, many of which are not formally introduced. This is where the guide comes in - with quality to match its preceeded reputation, this guide provides a much needed structure with which to tackle the huge task list, covering full-sync objectives, bonus quests, weapons and armor details, DLC coverage etc.
In addition, the guide also contains a story analysis of all games in the Assassin's Creed saga, tackling answers to tough questions through developer insight, and providing a history vs. story section which supports the vast Assassin's Creed lore, and recognises just how closely this game explores real-life history. This is all neatly packed in a spoiler-labelled section at the end of the guide, whilst the aforementioned areas of the guide remain entirely spoiler-free.
To reiterate, this game guide gives fans much-needed direction through the winding, underrated narrative in Ubisoft's latest 'Creed, along with some fantastic, appreciated extras; and whilst previous guides are worthy of their highest praise, this one perhaps deserves a little more, for raising the quality and enjoyment of the entire game. Wholly recommended.

Wife got this for me to accompany the game and it was a necessity for me because I like to delve into every aspect of the game and story line. My brother did not get this and blew through the game and was highly disappointed in the game overall because he didn't know about how to make money with the changes that accompanied the new step in the saga. I play the games for the story lines and trying to get 100% synchronization. This greatly helps with both.
Purchased this guide since my mission is to get 100% sync in the game. This guide exceeded my expectation. Very in depth. Nice colorful pages. Put together very well. All missions, side missions, multiplayer, history, everything is included in this guide. I like how Piggyback did its best to prevent spoilers. Also love how each mission has a nice detailed backdrop to get you involved. This has to be one of the best guides I've ever seen.
I love this guide!! It's such a time saver than having to keep looking from tv to laptop and laptop to tv to figure out how to beat some of these games. I grew up using strategy guides and I must say that this is the first one Ive bought in years!! Glad I did though. I do like the cover as it has some shiny and some flat colors in the front and back covers. This one is not a hard back either. This guide is helping me beat the game at 100%!!! Almost there too, I'm at 83% right now!
I buy the game guides for all of the video games I buy. I just don't have the time anymore to spend hours and hours looking for some obscure item. This guide is by far my favorite one to date. The colors in the book are quite nice. The paper in the guide is nice as well. I haven't noticed any mistakes, typos or obvious issues with this book.
A great guide to help through the games many sequences, though it could have been more helpfull if the author had tried to give a bit of guidance for the control's on the PC version other than recommending using a console controller. Cover's everything in the single player area of the game, and gives advice on the multiplayer part as well (though I have not tried that so I can't comment on that aspect of the game. Doesn't cover any of the Washington DLC's for the game, but I suspect that was not available in the initial shipping version of the game so that's not a major point of contention, since I suspect not everyone purchases DLC for games. Still a great guide to the game.
Just as with previous hardcover editions for AC games, this guide for AC III covers every facet and every secret of the game (including those frustrating almanac pages) quite well.
What I love most about the hardcover editions, however, is how they delve into the backstory a little more. Some of it is supposition, of course, but hearing about some of the thoughts from the creative team at Ubisoft is always fascinating and I love reading those parts most that you don't get in the standard edition. I also love some of the artwork throughout the book and the included maps are extremely well-detailed and useful.
However, if you're simply into "beating the game", then the standard edition might be your better bet.
The largest game companion yet for an assassin's creed game, this goes back to the matte white and glossy color of the second games guide (The first by piggyback). The maps that come with these guides are my favorite parts, and this one did not disappoint. Its printed on yellow papyrus looking paper, and gives you a centuries old feeling of a treasure map. I hope the trend in quality maps continues with open world games like this and GTA V. Skyrim's map that comes with the guide for the legendary edition isnt as styleized but there is a lot more content to pack into it. Either way, all these open world games have waaaaay too much stuff to do in them. And that is awesome. These are the reason its gonna take me 2 years after launch to dive into xbone or PS4
